A visual directory for changing UK websites

GB0.co.uk is part of the Site Atlas project. It uses Site Atlas website photography technology to record useful views of UK websites, check links, and build a visual history of how organisations change online.

Where some Site Atlas directories focus on a single subject, GB0 is designed for UK sectors and organisations that do not naturally belong inside the property, construction or international realty directories.

Why GB0 exists

Not every useful website fits neatly into Homm, 1-2-3-4-5, 5-4-3-2-1 or SellingPoints.

Some sectors are still worth recording because their websites change often, contain useful public information, or provide an interesting view of how organisations present themselves online.

GB0 gives those websites a more suitable home.

It allows Site Atlas to cover other UK organisations without overloading the more specialist directories.

Website photography beyond property and construction

A website can be an important public record for almost any organisation.

It may show events, services, announcements, opening times, campaigns, staff, locations, news, or changing public messages.

For some types of organisation, the website changes frequently. That makes visual recording especially useful.

GB0 can be used for sectors where screenshots help show:

  • what an organisation looked like online
  • how its services or public message changed
  • whether its website remained active
  • how its branding and presentation developed
  • what information was being promoted at different times

Part of Site Atlas

GB0 is one of the subject-based sites connected to Site Atlas.

Site Atlas is the central idea: using website photography to capture changing views of websites.

GB0 applies that idea more broadly to UK websites and organisations that need a separate container from the other Site Atlas directories.

It is kept separate because not every website belongs in a property, construction or realty directory. GB0 gives Site Atlas room to record other useful sectors without confusing the purpose of the specialist sites.

What GB0 provides

GB0 helps users:

  • discover UK organisations and websites
  • visit original websites through checked links
  • see visual previews before clicking through
  • explore changing website screenshots where available
  • understand how organisations present themselves online
  • view a visual history of websites that may change frequently

It is not just a list of links. It is a visual record of changing UK websites.

Websites evolve. Site Atlas captures the changes.

GB0 exists because the web is wider than any single sector.

Some websites need to be recorded, even when they do not fit neatly into the other Site Atlas directories.

GB0 is the Site Atlas visual directory for other changing UK websites and organisations.
